Remember 9/11 by Recognizing Those Who Serve
The USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) was honored
to participate in special opening ceremonies at Camden Yards
before the September 11th game between the Baltimore Orioles
and the New York Yankees. Marking the five-year anniversary
of the September 11th attacks on our nation, USO-Metro joined
with Ft. Meade Installation Commander COL Kenneth McCreedy
and Miss Maryland 2006 Brittany Lietz to acknowledge the sacrifices
of those who lost loved ones on 9/11 and those who selflessly
serve our country.
Miss Maryland presented 9/11 medallions to members of our
military, wounded service members, and the widow of a 9/11
victim. “It makes for a great evening to share baseball
and comradeship with each other," remarked COL McCreedy
during opening ceremonies. "Many of them have been through
hard times, a lot of hours, some are wounded and trying to
come back from that-- so it’s a good tonic for them
to experience the generosity of the USO on a night like this.”
