Northrop Grumman Teams Up with USO of Metropolitan Washington as Founding Sponsor of New USO-Dulles Airport Lounge

Northrop Grumman, one of America’s most respected technology leaders, has announced that it will join with the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) as the founding sponsor of a new 750-square foot USO lounge at Dulles International Airport.

The new USO lounge, expected to open in late fall of 2006, will be strategically located on the arrivals level next to the international arrivals building, convenient to ground transportation and the new walkway to Daily Garage 1. The space has been donated to USO-Metro by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

"Having the support of Northrop Grumman is so exciting," said Elaine Rogers, President of the USO of Metropolitan Washington. "They are making it possible for the USO to bring a ‘touch of home’ to the thousands of military travelers and their families who pass through Dulles each month."

"We are very proud of the work that Northrop Grumman does with the USO, and establishing this new lounge at Dulles is an example of the company’s commitment to the troops and to their families, "noted Jerry Agee, corporate vice president and president of Virginia-based Northrop Grumman Mission Systems and a member of the USO-Metro Board of Directors. "We are proud to support the men and women who defend our country, and we know no better way to do this than through the USO."

The partnership between Northrop Grumman, Dulles International Airport and USO-Metro has garnered the support of local government authorities as well. "Northrop Grumman’s sponsorship of the center, and the airports authority’s donation of valuable airport space for it, are great examples of the kind of corporate citizenship that companies and organizations exhibit to improve the quality of life we enjoy here," said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.

The USO Lounge at Dulles International Airport will be the fourth airport assistance center run by USO-Metro staff and volunteers. Additional facilities include the International Gateway Lounge at Baltimore-Washington International Airport as well as USO lounges at Reagan National Airport and Andrews Air Force Base.
