USO-Metro and Local Hoteliers Offer Military Families
Opportunity to be Together for the Holidays
The USO of Metropolitan Washington and area hoteliers
are joining
Forces again to help military families celebrate the holidays together
in its
annual "Holiday Hotel" program. The 2006 Holiday season
marks the
program's twentieth year.
Many service members stationed in the Washington D.C.
area are working
on mission critical projects and cannot leave the area, even during
the
holidays. But with the generosity of local hotels working through
USO-Metro's Holiday Hotel program, military families will be lodged
free of charge at participating hotels for up to three nights and
four days
between December 20th and 30th. Families must provide their own
transportation.
Since 1986, the USO of Metropolitan Washington and
its Holiday Hotel
partners have housed thousands of families during the holidays.
"In
all the years we've been doing this, we've never turned down a service
member's
request,” said Elaine Rogers. "Our hotel partners continue
to be
extraordinarily generous."
To be eligible to participate in the Holiday Hotel
program, active duty
service members must be on duty between December 20 and 30. Their
families must live 200 or more miles away and be able to travel
to the area.
Free hotel rooms will be available for up to four nights and three
days.
Priority is given to enlisted service members, E-6 and below. Deadline
For applying for the program is December 7, 2005. For additional
Information about the Holiday Hotel program, contact Jillian Waitkoss
at
jillian.waitkoss@us.army.mil or 703-696-0958.
