The winner of USO-Metro's 2008 photography contest is former Navy nurse and military spouse Cheryl Lowman Hunt. All pedestrian traffic was stopped one winter evening as Marine One took off from the lawn of the White House. The photo captures the unique view of military aircraft poised over the Washington Monument.

USO-Metro would like to thank everyone who submitted pictures to this year's contest. USO-Metro holds a photography contest every year to determine the photo that will appear on the front cover of the Guide. The winning photographer receives a $300 prize, and the winning photo will be featured on the cover of the 2008 Guide to Metropolitan Washington. All photos must have a military theme.
