The 2008 AFCEA Golf Classic

The 16th Annual AFCEA/USO-Metro Golf Classic is set to tee off on Monday, July 28, 2008 at The Golf Club at Lansdowne near Leesburg, Virginia. With just 34 foursomes, this tournament is one of the most exclusive and highly anticipated events of the year. The day begins with breakfast and practice at 7:00 a.m., and a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. on the new Norman Course. After golf, the tournament includes a reception and awards luncheon.

Only sponsors have the privilege of purchasing a foursome in the tournament. For more information, please contact tournament chairman Paul Garver.

The 2007 AFCEA Golf Classic, held at the Lansdowne Resort on July 30, 2007, broke a new record, raising over $118,000 for USO-Metro programs and services.
Through the outstanding support of Washington, DC area corporate and military leaders, the 2008 AFCEA Golf Classic is sure to be a huge success as well. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to support the troops through the USO of Metropolitan Washington. It’s the best way to meet the needs of the men and women who dedicate their lives to us and our country.

USO-Metro provides services and programs for military personnel and their families throughout Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. USO-Metro is able to accomplish all that it does because its reach is so wide, including six outreach centers located in military housing areas and four USO airport lounges at BWI, Dulles, Reagan National, and Andrews Air Force Base.

Perhaps most importantly, USO-Metro works every day with recuperating patients and their families at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. From support groups, outings and “homes away from home” for the families of injured service personnel, to on and off-site special events for those able to travel, to celebrity handshake tours for patients undergoing treatment in the hospitals, the USO of Metropolitan Washington helps to ensure that the morale of both patients and their loved ones remains positive throughout their recovery.
