The Children Came Out to Play at Deployed Family Fun Day

Fort Meade, MD, June 3, 2008 – On May 31st, spouses and children of deployed service members gathered for an afternoon of fun and entertainment, hosted by the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro), Health Net, and various military support agencies. Activities and entertainment for the kids included face painting, laser tag, a giant Moon Bounce, and a visit from Operation Military Kids. A picnic buffet was provided, while the cast of Reno 911, American animator Tom Warburton, and voice-over actress Candi Milo were on hand to sign autographs.

Each branch of service participated in the event, providing resources and information about what programs and services are available for families of deployed service members. Active duty service members who will be deploying in the near future were also invited to attend and encouraged to bring family.
